Salted Caramel Apple Skillet Coffee Cake

Nothing says cozy fall baking to me quite like a skillet cake in my opinion. There’s something so satisfying about pulling a cast iron skillet straight out of the oven. This one has no fussy layers or piping bags. It’s just one skillet and a whole lot of comfort.

It’s become a little tradition of mine to build a new skillet cake recipe every season, and today I’m sharing what might be my favorite yet, Caramel Apple Skillet Cake.

Last year, I posted my Easy Pumpkin Skillet Coffee Cake and I also love my Lemon Blueberry Skillet Cake and my Lemon Coconut Skillet Cake too! They are just so easy to make…one bowl to one skillet.

This one is loaded with shredded apples and has a brown sugar swirl that runs through the middle as it bakes, turning gooey and rich in the oven. And then, because a little extra never hurt anyone, it all gets finished with a salted caramel drizzle right before serving.

My favorite things about this recipe

🍎 It’s perfect as a little breakfast treat to share with your favorite people or as a cozy dessert after dinner.

🍎 It will leave your home smelling like a fall candle without the expensive price tag.

🍎 It’s made with my new favorite Salted Caramel!! You can find this at Walmart too!

I use this skillet all the time. It’s perfect for pancakes, grilled sandwiches, frying, and of course skillet cakes!

Ingredients and Substitutions

Flour – I use all-purpose.
Sugar – I use granulated sugar.
Baking Soda – This helps the cake rise when combined with the yogurt.
Baking Powder – This helps the cake rise and gives it a lighter texture.
Salt – Balances out the sweetness. I like to use kosher salt.
Cinnamon – Gives it that wonderful fall spice.
Greek Yogurt – I use vanilla greek yogurt, but you can also use plain greek yogurt.
Milk – Adds moisture to the cake.
Butter – Make sure you measure it by the stick and then melt.
Eggs – Provide moisture and binding for the cake.
Apples – I use granny smith and shred them. I find they cook better shredded than chopping them. I leave the peels on too, but you can peel them if you prefer.
Brown Sugar – This gives that sweet topping and is swirled throughout the cake for a final finishing sweet touch.
Salted Caramel – I’m obsessed with this brand!
