Praline Brookies

[ssba]
Oh my!  These little suckers are so good!!!  If you are a fan of cookie bars or brownies, you must try this recipe.  It came from a Pillsbury Bake-off contest.
 They have three perfect layers…

You will love them, and everyone always wants the recipe.  So here you go:

Recipe:
Source-Pillsbury Bake-off 2006 (Joanna Crumley)
1 box (19.5 oz) fudge brownie mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup water
2 eggs
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 roll refrigerated cookie dough (16.5 oz)

Preheat oven to 350 (325 for dark pan).  Line a 13 x 9 pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.

Make brownie mix as directed.  Spread brownie batter in pan and bake for 25 minutes.

Meanwhile, at the stove, heat butter, milk, sugars, pecans, and vanilla to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly.  Reduce heat to medium-low, simmer for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat.  Set aside until brownies are baked.

Right after taking brownies out of oven, pour praline mixture over the partially baked brownies.  Cut cookie dough into 16 equal slices.  (Cut into 4 equal sections and then cut each section into fourths).  Place cookie dough slices in 3 rows with 5 slices in each row and use the last one to fill in spaces.  (Cookie dough will spread when cooking).

*Bake for 23 to 28 minutes or until cookie is golden brown.  Cool for 2 hours and then slice into bars.
*Note-Joanna, the author of this recipe, actually recommends baking the cookie layer for 18 minutes.  See below in the comments.

Being able to share the things I make with others is so much fun for me. I have gotten so many cookbooks and torn so many recipes out of magazines! This is my way to really make use of them. I am starting this blog as a way to chronicle the recipes I’ve tried and pass them along. I hope everyone enjoys!!!

Thanks for the compliments! This is my recipe. Just a note of advice, I only bake the cookie layer for 18 minutes. Pillsbury increased the time when they published the recipe. Joanna
