I have an extra box of lemon cake mix and didn’t know what to do with it until now! Question: can I use one can of strawberry pie filling and fresh strawberries instead of 2 cans of the filling? Will that make it too tart or dry? I want to try to use some fresh strawberries. how much fresh strawberries do you suggest? Thank you for sharing this recipe!

In reply to Sherrie. Hi Sherrie! I did use 2 sticks of butter to keep it from being too dry at the top. I normally use 2 sticks for all my dump cakes, but you could certainly only use 1 or 1 1/2 to cut down on the calories too! Thanks so much for visiting!

This recipe sounds so good! I have made many dump cakes, and they all have required only one stick of butter. You have listed two, is that a mistake, or is it really that rich and gooey? I really Plan on making this, but don’t want to mess it up! Please let me know, Thank you!

I LOVE a good dump cake, Jaren, and this one is calling my name right now. Strawberry and Lemon is one of my favorite combinations. I got a big Strawberry Lemonade while I was out shopping yesterday, and I had one of those moments where I wanted to run off and hide so I wouldn’t have to share it with my son! He drank most of it. 🙂 I can see myself making this cake and hoarding it, too! Will definitely have to make this soon!
