I am going to try this recipe; I am from the Pecan Capital of the South “Georgia” I took 1st place in the Georgia State Pecan Pie contest in 2013 what a surprise that was since I normally do not enter a pie contest since especially a pecan pie might or might not be done all the way in the center but this one time I took a chance and woohoo I won it. I put my own twist on things and sometimes you get lucky lol.

Hi Jaren…
I’m a native Texas gal, who says all the things you mentioned in this post. I’ve been living in NJ for a bit over 7 years now, and the way they talk up here still sounds just as foreign to me as ever! I can’t ever see me losing my Texas accent and ways of saying things. It’s just part of me, and I sure want to keep it! Lol…thanks for a great recipe!

Oh my these are right up my alley Jaren! They look so yummy!!! Yes, the south has different sayings and I was a southern gal and used to talk that way. Still pick it up when I go down to visit family. But now I’m a PA Dutch gal. lol So I’ve picked up sayings like, “I had to redd up the house today”, meaning I picked up and cleaned up somewhat. And they say, “cuntry” for country, “charry” for cherry, “crick” for creek, “our” for hour, etc…A whole different way of talking in so many places. It is fun though to learn all the different slang talk. I used to love it when the southern folks used to say “youngin’s” and I would say, “I’m not an onion”. I also love the different food also. I’m not cajun but love cajun food! I love both of my worlds, the southern gal in me and the northern Dutch gal that is in me. Hugs, Brenda
